Stay in Bagnols-en-Forêt and Provence — full guide

Everything you need to plan your stay at Charme et Nature Provence: from getting there to activities, including seasonal tips and our local favourites.

Where is Bagnols-en-Forêt?

Bagnols-en-Forêt is a hilltop village in the Var hinterland, at about 350 metres altitude, in the Var department (83), Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. The village has nearly 3,000 inhabitants and takes its name from the surrounding cork oak forests.

Our mas is located at 231 Chemin des Granges, 83600 Bagnols-en-Forêt (GPS coordinates: 43.5425, 6.6919), a few minutes from the village centre yet already surrounded by nature.

How to get to the mas

From Nice Côte d'Azur Airport

Allow about 50 minutes by car (64 km) via the A8 motorway westbound, exit 38 Fréjus, then D4 and D637 to Bagnols-en-Forêt. Car rental services are available at the airport, or we can recommend a local private driver.

From Saint-Raphaël Valescure TGV station

The station is 23 km away (25 minutes). Direct TGV services from Paris (4h30), Lyon, Marseille and Geneva. From the station, a taxi or rental car is needed to reach Bagnols-en-Forêt.

By car on the A8 motorway

Exit 38 Fréjus (from Nice or Cannes) or 36 Le Muy (from Aix-en-Provence or Marseille), then 15 minutes on Provençal roads to the village. Free parking on site.

When to visit Provence?

Our bed & breakfast is open from March to September. Each period has its own charm:

  • March–April (low season, from €90/night): nature awakens, mimosas in bloom in March, mild days (15–22°C), ideal for hiking in the Gorges du Blavet and Estérel without the summer crowds.
  • May–June: vibrant Provençal spring, poppies, perfect temperatures (20–28°C), the ideal season to combine hiking with the first swims in the pool.
  • July–August (high season, from €110/night): peak summer, heat (28–34°C), pool at its best, French Riviera beaches close by. Book well in advance.
  • September (low season, from €90/night): the best period according to many guests — still warm, sea still warm, grape harvest season, golden light, summer crowds gone.
